Don’t like paying for tax software? Here’s a tip I thought I’d share. You can prepare your 2011 tax return for FREE with TurboTax’s Free Online Edition.

What’s the catch? Your return must be fairly simple to qualify for the free version. Specifically the eligibility criteria are as follows.

• You Earned Income: You receive T-slips, like T4s & T4As. You may have have tip income and/or pension income.
  • You are not self-employed.
  • You do not have investment income or RRSPs.
  • You have not made any charitable donations or investments.
• You Have Simple Deductions: You receive only ‘standard’ federal & provincial deductions.

This is a great simple solution for those of you out there with straightforward taxes returns that won’t cost you a dime.
